3. Leaving/collecting children to/from school:
(a) You are asked to leave your children at the school gate each morning
(b) Parents waiting for children in the evening are requested to wait
on the footpath across the road from the school. The school warden will
escort children across the road.
(c) If your child has to leave school during school hours it is essential
that you notify the class teacher in writing. Your note must always be
signed.
NB
• Under no circumstances will any child be allowed leave school
without a signed note.
• Your child must be collected at the school.
4. Junior Infant Parents Meeting:
A meeting of parents of children in Junior Infants was held on Thursday,
September 16th.at 8.00pm. The purpose of this meeting was twofold:
1. To outline briefly what your children will be doing during the year.
2. To give you an opportunity to ask questions and to discuss any concerns
that you may have.
The meeting was addressed by: Mr Tom Cowhig (Principal),
Miss Anne Marie considine (Class Teacher)
Miss Carol O Sullivan (Class Teacher) Mrs Mrs Mary Coughlan (Special Education
Team).
Member of Parents Association.
5. Education Welfare Act & School Attendance (Section 21):
“A record shall be maintained of the attendance/non-attendance
on each school day of each student registered at that school.”
If your child is absent from school a written note must be furnished,
outlining the child absence and the reason for this absence. These notes
will be kept on school record.
If your child is absent from school more than 20 days in the full school
year the school principal has a duty to inform the Educational Welfare
Officer.
He/She, in turn, will investigate each individual case.
Therefore, the written note to the school explaining these absences is
now a very important piece of information.
6. Standardisation of school year:
The school year has been standardised by the Department of Education
& Science. From now on all schools will be on vacation at the same
time. A full school calendar has been sent to each family .See website.
7. Staff Meetings:
There will be three staff meetings during this school year.
1. Friday Sept 16th.2005
2. Friday Jan 13th.2006
3. Friday June 2nd.2006
To facilitate these staff meetings the school will close at 12.30pm for
all students on these days.
